Tea Party Invitation

Materials

1/8" hole punch
6mm ivory satin ribbon
Paper Source Violet A7 envelope
Paper Source Violet A7 invitation backing 5" x 7"
Paper Source Laser vellum 8-1/2" x 11"

Steps:

1. Print two invitations onto each 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of the laser vellum. It may take a few tries to achieve a layout you like; do a few test runs.

2. Using a razor knife and straight edge or paper cutter, cut to 4-3/4" x 6-3/4".

3. If desired, adhere a decorative cutout onto the invitation using a glue stick.

5. Carefully paperclip the invitation together to securely hold your layers in place as you punch.

6. Measure and mark equidistant from each side where you want your holes to be, and punch through the invitation layers with a 1/8-inch hole punch.

7. Cut an 8-inch length of ribbon and string it through the holes, tying into a single square knot in the front of the invitation. Trim the ends of the ribbon (figure B).

8. If desired, add stickers for embellishment (figure C).

Steps:

1. Print two invitations onto each 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of laser vellum.

2. Using a razor knife and straight edge or paper cutter, cut to 4-5/8" x 6-5/8".

3. The next layer is the unprinted decorative red primrose plaid sheet. Cut to 4-3/4" x 6-3/4".

5. Carefully paperclip the invitation layers together to securely hold in place as you punch. Measure and mark the
center of your card where you want your hole to be, and punch through the invitation layers with a 1/8-inch hole punch.

6. Place a red 1/8-inch eyelet into the hole. Flip card with eyelet facing down and place setting tool in back of eyelet. Hit setting tool with hammer to flatten and set the eyelet (figure E).

7. Decorate invitation with ladybug stickers.

8. To line the envelope, create a template by tracing the shape of the envelope flap onto scrap paper (figure F). Measure the sides of the liner approximately 1/8-inch narrower on each side than the width of the envelope, and the bottom a couple of inches shorter than the length of the envelope.

9. Cut out and place into envelope for a test fit. Make any adjustments to the size and shape as needed.

10. With the template made, trace and cut out the envelope liner out of the red primrose plaid paper.

11. Slide the liner into the envelope (figure G).

12. Using a glue stick, apply adhesive around the edge of the flap of the liner only. Adhere and smooth with a bone folder if necessary.

Steps:

Note: For each layer, you will be able to get two out of an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet. Remember that the top 1 inch of your layers will be tucked into the invitation backing. Make a practice copy first to make sure the text of your layers aligns properly.

1. To make layer one: Print your announcement text and baby photo onto the laser vellum. Cut to 3-7/8" x 8-1/2".

2. Layer two is the unprinted decorative blue and yellow striped sheet. Cut to 3-7/8" x 8-3/4".

3. For layer three, print any other relevant information, such as party details, on Superfine Softwhite paper, and cut to 3-7/8" x 9".

4. Fold backing card along the score line. Arrange all of your layers in order and carefully insert into the flap of your backing.

5. Using the pre-punched holes of the invitation backing as a guide, punch through the invitation layers with a 1/8-inch hole punch. Carefully paperclip the invitation together before punching to securely hold your layers in place as you punch.

7. Feed the thread back through the hole of the card so that both ends of the thread will be in back, and the button secured (figure H).

8. To secure the second button, again, take one end of the thread and run it through the remaining hole of the card from back to front. Run the thread through the first set of button holes and pull taught against the card (figure I).

9. Run the thread through the remaining set of button holes, and feed the thread back through the hole of the card. Tie the two pieces of thread together in back (figure J) and trim the ends.
