Project Designed by Vivian Peritts.
Project Demonstrated by Suzanne McNeill.
Materials:
round DCC papier mache box
3" x 6" pieces of colored vellum in yellow, green and celadon
three-inch square piece of colored vellum in honey
four-inch square pieces of colored vellum in red and brick
two-inch square pieces of colored vellum in rose and blue
8-1/2" x 11" piece of aluminum foil
antique gold round drawer pull
screw and washer
McGill jumbo heart and giant circle craft punches
charcoal gray DecoArt Americana acrylic paint
double-sided adhesive sheets
Steps:
1. Paint the box charcoal gray inside and out. Let dry. Wrinkle aluminum foil and smooth out. Some creases will remain.
2. Apply double-sided adhesive to the back of the colored vellum. Apply foil, shiny side down, to the adhesive-backed vellum.
3. Apply the second sheet of adhesive to the back of the foil (figure A). Leave the paper backing on until the shapes have been punched or cut. Remove the paper backing and apply the shapes to the project (figure B). Use rubber bands to line up the shapes evenly on the box (figure C). Always leave space between the pieces so that the paint will show. Line the box with patterned paper (figure D).
4. Punch a hole in the center of the lid. Attach the draw pull with a washer and screw on the inside (figure E).
