Steps: 1.Select three colors of watercolor paints. Place a pea-sized amount of each color together on the palette. Roll the brayer over the paints three times. Do not overmix, as the colors will become muddy.
2. Using the brayer, roll the color onto the white card stock (figure A). Paint several pieces this way. If desired, gradually add small amounts of different colors to the palette to alter the colors on each piece.
3. Add a small amount of white paint to the palette. Roll out the white paint with the brayer.
4. With the brayer, apply the white paint evenly to a large background stamp. Leaving the stamp face up, place the black card stock onto the stamp.
5.Carefully roll the brayer back over the paper. Lift up the paper from the stamp.
6. After the first set of painted papers have dried, stamp these in the same way with the white paint or any solid color (figure B). Allow all the papers to dry.
7. Using a craft knife, ruler and cutting mat, begin cutting the papers into strips. Diagonal cuts and assorted widths make the best mosaics. Be sure all the edges are straight.
8. Cut a six-inch section of the heavy, double-sided tape.
9. Lay the tape on the mat with the sticky side facing up.
10. Lay a strip horizontally onto the tape, starting in the center (figure C). On both sides, place a paper cord. Repeat until the tape is full.
