Miniature Peartop Kite

Materials:

gift-wrapping tissue
20" piece of sewing thread
11" strip of tinsel
cellophane tape
mint tin
scissors
tweezers

Steps:

1. Cut a small piece of wrapping tissue, centering a design. Fold the wrapping tissue in half lengthwise (figure A).

2. Cut out the sail to 1-1/2" x 2" in a six sided shape (figure B).

3. Mark the bridle point a third of the way down.

4. Tape a piece of tinsel for the tail to the bottom point. Cut a very small piece of cellophane tape and using tweezers, stick the tape to the end of the tinsel (figure C).

5. Measure a piece of thread twice the width of your hand from the end of the thumb to the end of the little finger when the fingers are spread out. Tape the thread in the center, just below the bridle point (figure D).

6. Tape the kite thread to the inside lid of a mint tin (figure E).

7. Fly the kite right out of the tin and close the lid for storage.
