Gilded Glass

Materials:

glass bottle
Pebeo Cernes Relief gold outliner
gold leaf size
gold leaf
shellac
colored facetted gems
burnt umber oil paint
paintbrush
large, soft paintbrush

Steps:

1. Wash the bottle to remove any traces of grease.

2. Decorate the bottle with the outliner, outlining swirls, stars, flowers, etc., as desired (figure A). Let dry.

3. Paint the bottle with size and let dry.

4. Apply the gold leaf, pressing it gently onto the bottle with fingers (figure B).

5. Brush off any excess leaf with a soft paintbrush.

6. Squeeze a little outliner onto the back of each gem and press them into place on the bottle (figure C).

7. Coat the bottle with shellac for protection.
