The Flower Pot Stencil Collection
- Cherries Jubilee stencil #TSG184
- Ashley's Tea Party stencil #TSG183
flat, dry sponge
painter's tape
Steps:
- Remove any stickers or tags attached to the flowerpot, and thoroughly remove dust and dirt with a wet cloth. Allow pots to dry completely.
- Apply a base coat of gesso to the pot and saucer.
- Apply white acrylic paint using a foam brush to the base section of the flowerpot. You may need to apply more than one coat to achieve a smooth, even base coat.
- Apply red acrylic paint to the saucer, plus the outside rim and entire inside of the pot. Again, several coats may be needed to achieve a smooth, even base coat. Allow paint to dry.
- Attach Cherries Jubilee stencil overlay #1 to the base section of the pot using painter's tape. Stencil the pattern with red acrylic paint. Reposition the stencil as desired to add the design all over the pot. Change to overlay #2 and complete the design using green acrylic paint. Repeat for each cherry pattern.
- Randomly place the round flowers from the Ashley's Tea Party Stencil on the flowerpot base section. Stencil using Moon Yellow. Complete the flowers by filling in the second overlay with green acrylic paint.
- Create a checkered pattern around the rim section by cutting a square shape from a flat, dry sponge. Wet the sponge. Dip one side of the wet sponge square in white acrylic paint, press the square in a checkerboard pattern around the rim.
- Use the end of a brush to apply dots to the center of the round flowers and to randomly position polka dots on the flowerpot.
- Basecoat the ball knobs. Paint three red and one white. Dot the knobs with polka dots using the end of a paintbrush. Dot the white knob with black and the red balls with white.
- Let the pot dry overnight.
- Apply several coats of Right-Step varnish to the pot and the ball knobs.
- Using cement glue, adhere the three red knobs to the bottom of the pot. Adhere the white knob to the bottom of the saucer. Utilize the saucer as a lid.
Tip: Allow paint to dry before beginning to stencil or varnish.
