Guest Pat Desantis assembles cute little snowmen by stinging together stiffened felt with colorful buttons or chips. The end result is a garland that can be used as a festive holiday decoration for a tree, door, or just about anywhere you want to advertise some holiday spirit.
Materials
For 5 Snowmen:
green cord, 1-1/3 yd., Wright's
red cord, 1-1/3 yd., Wright's
striped cord, 3-1/3 yd., Wright's
red ribbon, 1-1/2 yd., Wright's
white guimpe braid, 4 1/2 yd., Wright's
1 sheet 12" x 9" EZ Felt, black, CPE
2 sheets 12" x 18" EZ Felt, white, CPE
Steps
- Trace hat pattern onto black felt. Cut five pieces (figure A).
- Trace snowman pattern on white felt. Cut five pieces.
- Cut 25 black dots from felt using paper punch. Glue in place for buttons and eyes (figure B).
- Starting at top of head, glue white braid around entire outer edge of snowman.
- Cut four 12-inch pieces of each cord. Set aside remainder of striped cord.
Hint: Tape the ends of the cord and cut through the tape to prevent fraying. - Coil and glue each 12-inch length of cord to create "candies." Finish by gluing tape end under coil.
- Glue black felt hat to snowmen over white braid ends.
- Arrange snowmen and "candies" over remaining pieces of striped cord. Glue.
