Exotic Gift Wrap
Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-353 -- More Projects » Don't settle for plain, store-bought gift wrap, when Loose Ends can make a gift glorious. Sandi Reinke joined Carol to demonstrate different gift wrapping techniques using Loose Ends' products.
Sandi exchanged raffia a long time ago for sturdier, natural seagrass. The benefits of seagrass include a strength ten times that of raffia, and the resistance to dye, which results in soft, muted shades.
Loose Ends' Project Papers are made from recycled papers and water-soluble inks. The 35 different patterns are designed to be wadded up in a ball and distressed before use. The paper takes on new characteristics and is actually stronger as a result of the distressing.
Loose Ends also has several types of gift wrapping accessories including Botanikal ribbon, which is a strip of abaca with moss, rose petals and morse fiber attached. The sisal roping, which is also used as twine on packages, is covered with organic fiber to give it a rough look.
For more interesting gift wraps than those just made from paper, try wrapping up an item in abaca or copper mesh. Corrugated cardboard can also replace shiny gift bags for wrapping wine.
