Colonel Scott Chesnut from MacGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey sent in what Carol referred to as the cutest, most wonderful pictures of children on Christmas cards that she had ever seen. Scott and his wife Mindy send these unique cards to their friends and family each Christmas. Scott said that Mindy gets the outfits together and he helps set the scene and then takes the photographs himself. Their first one in 1996 showed three little angels. In 1997, they were featured in a manger scene with a natural barn. Scott said they take advantage of their circumstances as they move around the country with the military.
Next the children are posed as the Three Magi, and then as Christmas elves. Scott said their friends and family are always asking from year to year what they will do next. The year after the elves, Mindy made snowmen costumes for all three children using white fur, as well as making a backdrop with a moon and stars.
The next year Scott and Mindy "branched out" into digital enhancement to create a slightly grumpy Christmas tree and toys, followed by the "Ches-nutcrackers" in 2002 with makeup and some more fabulous costumes by mom Mindy.
