Unlike Hansel and Gretel's experience in the gingerbread house, we promise this quilt is full of good things. It's the perfect quilt for decorating your home for the holiday season or to give as a gift. Christmas is only a short time away... so let's get started! Roof and Sky
Measurements for Fabric of Roof and Sky
Roof:
- 10" base and 6-5/8" height
Make a template by connecting the base to height, to make the triangle.
Use this template to cut out your roof piece.
Sky: (Figure A)
- 5-1/2" x 7-1/4" square
Sewing Roof and Sky
- Cut sky diagonally for two sky triangle pieces. The sky is cut a bit larger than the roof, so it will hang over slightly when stitching it to the roof.
- Stitch sky pieces to the roof, cutting off any "ears" that are hanging over. Set aside.
House
Measurements for Fabric of House
House Front: (Figure B)
- Two 3" x 5" rectangles
- Two 1-1/2" x 3" rectangles
House Trim:
- Two 1" x 3" rectangles
Door: (Figure C)
- One 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangle
Trim for the door:
- Two 1" x 6-1/2" rectangles
Sewing House
- Sew one house trim to one of the 1-1/2" x 3" house fronts, and then sew the house trim to one of the 3" x 5" house fronts (Figure D).
- Repeat process for other front and trim and set aside.
- Next sew the door to the two door trims.
- Sew the completed fronts to each side of the door trim.
- Sew completed roof on (Figure E).
The house is now done, so let's move on to the forest.
