Sachet Doll
Materials:
3-1/2 inch half doll (torso and head)
12 inches of 1/4-inch wide satin ribbon
12 inches of one-inch wide decorative ribbon
lavendar-scented potpouri
size 10 needle
thread
12-inch piece of lace
ribbon flowers and bows
Steps:
1. Fold a piece of cord or ribbon in half, tie a knot in the end and insert into the half doll's head (figure E). Set aside.
2. To make the sachet, fold a 12-inch piece of one-inch wide ribbon in half. Sew the sides of the ribbon together using a running stitch. Turn the ribbon inside-out to to get a long tube.
3. Fill the tube with lavendar-scented potpouri and sew the tube together at the top.
4. Glue the top of the tube to the inside of the half doll's cavity (figure F).
5. Fold a 12-inch piece of lace in half and stitch together to form a tube that is open on both ends.
6. Place the ribbon tube through one end of the lace (figure G). Gather and sew the lace at the waste to create the doll's skirt.
7. Cover the waste with a piece of ribbon, gathering the ribbon at the top of the waste (figure H).
8. Embellish the doll with ribbon flowers and bows.
Tip: If using multiple embellishments, it is a good idea to stitch all these elements to crinoline, thus making one complete embellishing piece that can then be stitched or glued to the half doll.
