Project designed by Norma Zager.

Materials:

scrap yarn, washable scrap ribbon
knitting needles or crochet needle

Steps:

  1. Cast on 100 stitches. Add more stitches to create a wider afghan.
  2. At the end of each row use a new yarn. Tie on, leaving extra yarn for a self fringe.
  3. Continue alternating yarns and textures until afghan reaches a minimum of five feet.
Tips:
  • Shop closeouts on yarn to add interest and texture to the scraps you have around the house.
  • Knit or crochet a length of eyelash yarn with a length of regular yarn to create a textured row.
  • Mix in a row of washable ribbon instead of yarn to add even more texture.
