This esteemed needle artist uses silk and metallic threads to hand-embroider abstract designs against a deeply contrasting black background. Although she is learned in traditional embroidery stitches, Levy prefers to invent her own stitches or to use traditional stitches in nontraditional ways. This stitch manipulation allows her to shade, show depth and distance, and layer threads to create stunning art pieces.
