Growing up in New Jersey, Anyta Thomas had dreams of a career as a mechanical engineer, but once in college she explored the arts. She played the jazz euphonium and trumpet and performed all different forms of dancing, including ballet. Engineering was abandoned, and now she's a marketing director for an art-based Philadelphia community center.
