Projects designed by Vesta Abel.
Materials:
Magic Metal or any 100-percent copper sheet
Magic Metal pen
foam sheet or mouse pad
deckle-edged scissors
EmbossArt shell design
Fabric Blo Pen - optional
wooden puffer
double-sided foam tape
hot plate
card stock
decorative papers
tongs
Steps:
1. Create a card using various layers of decorative papers as a background. Set aside.
2. Cut a 2-1/2-inch piece of copper with deckle-edged scissors (figure A).
3. While holding the copper piece with tongs, heat the piece on a hot plate until the metal changes color (figure B). Let cool.
4. Emboss the copper piece with the EmbossArt shell design (figure C).
5. Turn the copper piece over and set it on top of a foam sheet or mouse pad.
6. Use the wooden "puffer" tool to draw wavy lines and dots on the metal for texture (figure D).
7. Color over the shell design with the Magic Metal pen to lighten the design (figure E).
8. Attach the finished piece on the layered card with double-sided foam tape.
Tips:
- While using the Blo Pen is optional, the look it creates on the metal when heated on the hot plate is spectacular.
- Apply the finished surfaces to many other surfaces besides greeting cards. Consider framing them as artwork.
