Figure B
Host Carol Duvall shows how to make special "Squishy Lovables," including an adorable rabbit, that are perfect for decorating a baby shower gift basket. These little stuffed animals will be a big hit with babies, moms-to-be and young children. Pets will love 'em, too, and there are no protruding parts to be chewed off. Carol also shows how to decorate the basket with other toys and gives ideas on how to reflect the toy theme in the place cards and invitations.

Materials:

thin cardboard or stiff paper such as a file folder
pen or pencil
soft fabric such as flannel
embroidery needle and floss
fiberfill for stuffing

Note: The size and shape are entirely up to you. Carol's animals fit into a gift basket, but they may be larger, if desired.

Steps:
  1. Either trace or draw a pattern freehand on the cardboard/folder.
  2. Cut out the pattern to make a template.
  3. Trace the pattern onto a double layer of fabric.
  4. Embroider the face on the toy (figure A).
  5. Sew on the outline, stitching the sides of the toy together (figure B). Leave a small opening unstitched to turn the material right side out. Trim the excess fabric.
  6. Turn the fabric right side out.
  7. Stuff the toy.
  8. Hand-sew the opening.
