A wooden wall clock adds a contemporary touch to any room and serves a very useful purpose.
Handmade Wall Clock
Materials:
1 large square piece of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) 4 smaller square pieces of birch wood each slightly less than a quarter of the size of the larger piece. peel-and-stick edge banding glue small nails gold stain to match palette purple paint to match palette paint brush clock mechanism clock hands batteries (depends on mechanism) wall hanging hardware

Directions:
1. Cut one piece of MDF into a large square. 2. Cut four pieces of birch wood into smaller squares each slightly less than a quarter of the size of the large one (Figure A). 3. Attach the peel-and-stick edge banding to edges of the birch squares. 4. Stain these four squares gold. 5. Bore a hole into the center of the large square (Figure B). 6. Paint the purple accent color onto the larger square just need to paint the area that will be exposed when the four smaller squares are place on top of it (Figure C). 7. Place each of the four smaller squares onto the big square one in each corner. Since even when combined, these four smaller pieces are still smaller than the one large one, extra space will be left over. This extra space will create a "plus sign" shape in the center of the large square and you will be able to see the purple paint through it. 8. Glue and nail the four birch pieces to the larger square. 9. Attach clock mechanism to back of the larger square where you bored the hole then fasten with glue. 10. Attach the hands. 11. Install battery and set the time. 12. Attach hardware to hang the clock. 13. Hang the clock on then wall.
