Copper Light Fixture

In this project, Teri uses her metal and carpentry skills to form a distinctive punched-copper light fixture.

Materials:

pop rivets and washers
porcelain dual light socket
2 candelabra bulbs
Malco folding tool
11" deep throat coping saw
2/0 jewelry saw blades
nail punches in assorted sizes
18" x 13" sheet 12 oz. cold rolled copper
8" x 13-1/2" sheet 16 oz. soft copper
1/2" cold chisel, sanded to remove sharp edge at point
hammer
1/8" and 3/8" drill bits
short section of 1" x 6" board
2 squeeze clamps

1. Mark the folds and cuts you want your light fixture to have, as desired (using your own design or one found in clipart, etc). Make pattern templates and attach to the flat piece (figure A).

2. Trace the side cuts. Notch the corners. Cut out the triangles (figure B).

3. Punch the front pattern (figure C) and polish.

4. Make the folds (figure D). Make the back and rivet the pieces together.

5. Wire the two-bulb fixture using an electricians' knot (figure E).

6. Install the fixture through the hole in the back piece.

7. Install two clear candelabra-type bulbs.
