Keep track of important points in a child's youth by making a portable growth chart.

Materials:

nylon window shade
measuring tape
old broom handle
house numbers
paint
scissors
staple gun
cording
glue
paintbrushes
drill

Steps:

1. Measure the length and width of the door the chart will hang on. Cut the shade to the desired dimensions with scissors.

2. Cut two pieces of a broom handle about 2 inches longer than the chosen width of the chart to serve as dowels. Drill holes in each end of one, and thread cording through for hanging. Staple the shade to the dowels (top and bottom).

3. Paint the shade and house numbers as desired and let dry.

4. Mark foot measurements from the ground up and glue the numbers on accordingly.
