PHOTO
Family photos are great for decorating, but don't necessarily have to be mounted in frames. Try these alternative display ideas.

Materials:

family photos
glue
cord
clothespins
hot glue gun and glue sticks
adhesive-backed photo transfer film (available at the computer store)

  • Spice up unadorned and recessed areas such as mantels or shelves with family photos, using either double sided tape or decoupage glue for a more permanent bond (figure A).

  • Make sure the photos are mounted or grouped; that they flow well and tell a story.

  • Use a piece of cording with clothes pin to hang photos on a wall (figure B).

  • Hot glue clothes pins to a railing or a wall-mounted board and hang your photos from them (figure C).

  • Print photos from your computer onto adhesive-backed film, and adhere to a tile surface such as the backsplash in your kitchen or a wall in your bathroom (figure D).

  • Paint a wooden serving tray then decorate it family photos by placing them in the bottom of the tray in a montage (figure E). Cover with a piece of Plexi-glass.

  • Use adhesive-back transfer film to adhere a photo to the outside of a clear glass vase (figure G). The photo will adhere better if the surface is wet.
