Enter a realm of thumbnail-sized tea sets, miniature mansions, smaller-than-life Hollywood stars and exhibits that have to be viewed through a magnifying glass. The Carole and Barry Kaye Museum of Miniatures got its start in 1991 when founder and curator Carole Kaye began Petite Elite, the forerunner of today's museum.
There are currently more than 200 exhibits in the 14,000- square-foot museum, including the works of artists from around the world. Some of the one-of-a-kind displays are commissioned pieces created exclusively for exhibit by The Carole and Barry Kaye Museum of Miniatures. Feel like a giant when viewing greatly-detailed gargoyle-trimmed medieval abbeys, Empire-period drawing rooms, graceful Southern plantations, antique automobiles and 18-inch historical figures such as Catherine The Great. Museum art director Lilli Ann Hamilton has a love for working with miniatures and many experiences to share about her work. Visitors are encouraged to peruse the museum's research library.
