Design Originals Cut-Out Kids booklet #5092 - includes patterns for paper doll, clothing and hair
Steps:
1. Cut out doll bodies or use doll die cuts.
2. Cut off the arms and legs of the doll cutout (figure A).
3. Position and glue the arms and legs behind the doll's clothes. Trim away any excess that's exposed (figure B).
4. To make the doll hold an object, fold the hand over or cut a small oval and insert the object into it.
5. To make clothes for the doll, trace patterns and transfer them to paper.
6. Cut out clothes, accessories and hair (figure C).
7. Design a facial expression and draw it onto the doll's face.
Tips:
- Hair and facial expressions bring the dolls to life.
- Use decorative scissors to make hair for a witch doll or a "raggy girl" doll. Use a spiral punch to create curls.
- Card stock gives best results.
- Tiny doll patterns work especially well for clothing.
- Use tacky glue with a tiny applicator tip.
- Small and mini-size punches make perfect embellishments for little people cutouts.
- Pens, chalk and watercolors make the dolls' faces really come to life by adding color.
- A craft knife is a handy tool to cut slits and to stab tiny pieces for easy placement.
