Create your beany buddy bed out of a child's favorite outgrown t-shirt or fabric that matches their room's decor to create a custom look.
Everyone deserves a comfy spot to call their own! Kids will love helping to create a one-of-a-kind bed for their favorite stuffed pal!

Project designed by Marie Clapper.

Materials:

large cellulose sponge (7.8" x 4.2" x 1.5")
four 3-1/3" tall flat clothespins (standard size)
six jumbo craft sticks
two 7/8" wide wooden heart shapes
two 1-1/8" wide wooden heart shapes
12" x 25" fabric remnant for bed cover
fiberfill batting
toilet paper roll
hot glue gun and glue sticks
scissors
ruler

Steps:

Bed

  1. Remove sponge from packaging. If the sponge is wet, let it dry.
  2. Cut fabric to measure 12" x 20". Wrap fabric around the sponge as if wrapping a gift. Glue fabric ends in place.

Bedposts
  1. Turn the bed seam side down.
  2. Glue clothespins vertically at each corner of the bed so the clothespins are evenly aligned with the front and the back of the bed and so a 1/4" of each pin extends above the top of the bed.

Headboard
  1. Glue one craft stick across the top back of the bedposts.
  2. Glue a second craft stick on the back of the posts so the stick is centered across the bed.

Foot Board
  1. Glue one craft stick across the front bedposts so the stick is even with the top of the bed.
  2. Glue a second stick below the first foot board rail.

Bed Side Frames
  1. Glue one end of the craft stick into the center notch of the foot board bed posts.
  2. Glue remaining length of the stick across the center side of the bed. Note: side frames will not cover the entire side of the bed. The bolster will cover the remaining bed side.

Bolster
  1. Use fiberfill to stuff the center of the toilet paper roll.
  2. Center and roll toilet paper roll in the remaining 5" x 12" length of fabric. Glue the seam in place.
  3. Glue the seam-side down onto the bed in front of the headboard. Glue excess fabric on the sides of the bed.

Embellishment
  1. Glue wooden hearts onto the headboard and footboard. Decorate frame if desired.
  2. Tuck bean bag buddies into bed.
