This clown doll is made almost entirely out of Yo-Yos, those gathered circles of fabric that crafters have been working with for years. General instructions for the yo-yo's and clown face are listed below.
- Cut 28, eight-inch circles of fabric.
- On each circle, fold in the outer edge about 1/4 inch.
- Take running stitches all the way around the edge of each circle.
- Pull the thread to gather, so that each circle makes a small pouch.
- Flatten out the pouch so that the sewn end is in the middle of the yo-yo.
- Stuff the circles with polyester fiberfill.
- Assemble the circles into the body, arms and legs.
- For the face, cut two, 6-1/2-inch circles of plain fabric.
- Place right sides together and stitch around, leaving a small opening for turning. Knotch the circle for easier turning and so the material will lie flat.
- Turn right side out, stuff, and sew opening closed.
- Cut strips of fabric for the clown hair.
- Use dental floss to attach the arms, legs, and head to the body.
