Yo-yo doll
This clown doll is made almost entirely out of Yo-Yos, those gathered circles of fabric that crafters have been working with for years. General instructions for the yo-yo's and clown face are listed below.
  1. Cut 28, eight-inch circles of fabric.
  2. On each circle, fold in the outer edge about 1/4 inch.
  3. Take running stitches all the way around the edge of each circle.
  4. Pull the thread to gather, so that each circle makes a small pouch.
  5. Flatten out the pouch so that the sewn end is in the middle of the yo-yo.
  6. Stuff the circles with polyester fiberfill.
  7. Assemble the circles into the body, arms and legs.
  8. For the face, cut two, 6-1/2-inch circles of plain fabric.
  9. Place right sides together and stitch around, leaving a small opening for turning. Knotch the circle for easier turning and so the material will lie flat.
  10. Turn right side out, stuff, and sew opening closed.
  11. Cut strips of fabric for the clown hair.
  12. Use dental floss to attach the arms, legs, and head to the body.
