Today the Shoebox was full of shoes...some of the most incredible shoes ever seen and all made of polymer clay. Our Master of Polymer Clay, Donna Kato, sponsored a challenge which she called Feat of Clay (bad pun). She sent out invitations to 50 polymer clay artists, inviting them to enter the competition/challenge and provided the rules: Use one shoe between the sizes 7 and 9; it could be entirely of polymer clay or it could be polymer clay over an existing shoe. Of the 50 invited artists, 40 responded affirmatively--an incredible percentage.

The shoes were on display at HIA (now CHA), the annual craft tradeshow, so it was only the members of the trade who were able to see them. Donna very kindly shipped a number of the shoes to us so we might share them with you. Several museums have contacted Donna inquiring if they might borrow the collection for display; however, there is no further information available at this time. I hope you enjoyed what we were able to show you.
