Clay Sock Monkey

Premo Sculpey
- one two-ounce block of Cadmium red (5382)
- one two-ounce block of white (5001)
- three or four, two-ounce blocks of Granitex brown (3001)
two black seed beads

Steps:

2. Roll two 1/2-inch balls of brown clay into 1-1/2-inch long logs. Roll four 3/8-inch balls of white clay (figure C) into 1/2-inch long logs. Attach white logs to both ends of the brown logs. Roll slightly to adhere the two colors of logs together. Cut the logs in half, making legs and arms. Attach them to both sides of the body (figure D).

5. Roll two 1/8-inch balls of brown clay and flatten them slightly. Place them on both sides of the head for the monkey's ears (figure I). Use the end of a paintbrush to create an indention in each ear.

7. Roll a 1/2-inch ball of brown clay into a 1-3/4-inch long log. Roll a 1/4-inch ball of white clay into a log. Attach it to the end of the brown log to make the tail. Place the tail on the monkey's body.

8. Bake the clay monkey in a pre-heated, 265-degree oven for 20 minutes.

Tips:

Clean hands before starting the project and before working with a new color of clay. Pre-moistened towelettes work great.
