Steps:

1. Coat the inside of your bowl with Repel Gel.

2. Form the scrap clay into a ball and press into the bowl (figure A).

3. Bake at required temperature for 1 hour.

4. Use about half of one bar of white clay and a small pea-sized ball of blue clay mixed together to make the powder blue base color. Roll the powder blue clay to a #1 thickness on the pasta machine (Atlas).

5. Using your teapot template and craft knife, put a sheet of clay on parchment and cut out the teapot shape (figure B).

6. Coat the mold with repel gel (figure C).

7. Shape the clay teapot over the mold (figure D).

8. Make a clay strip about 3/8" x 4-1/2" long.

9. Form the strip into a circle, cut to size and blend the seam (figure E).

10. Paint one edge of the circle with Kato Clear Medium, attach to the bottom of the teapot (figure F), and use more Clear Medium to make the seam strong.

11. Bake at 275 F degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from mold when cool.

12. Apply cane slices in desired pattern (figure G).

13. Bake again for 45 minutes.

14. Apply two coats of clear, shiny sealer of your choice.

To make the striped triangle cane, it will take about half of a small block of each color.

1. Condition and roll blue and white clay on a #1 setting.

2. Cut 8 blue and 8 white pieces about 3/4" x 2" and stack them, alternating colors (figure H).

3. Reduce the stack into a longer thinner piece

4. Pinch the top edge where you can see the stripes to form a triangle, smooth and reduce if needed (figure I).

To make the Skinner blend bull's eye cane:

1. Make a 3-inch square of white and a 3-inch square of ultra blue on a #1 thickness (Atlas machine).

2. Cut each square in half diagonally. Stack the same color triangles on top of each other. Place long sides of the triangles together slightly offset (figure J).

3. Put through the pasta machine with two colors touching the rollers (figure K), fold in half, and repeat about 30 times (figure L).

4. Putting either just the white end or just the blue end touching the rollers, reduce the thickness of the blend by rolling through the pasta machine and gradually reducing the thickness until it is at a #7.

5. Roll up the blend, starting with the blue end. Wrap that roll in a #4 thickness of white clay (figure M).

6. Wrap that roll in a #5 thickness of ultra blue clay (figure N).
