Jewelry designer Debbie Sekerak strings an attractive beaded necklace. Although the length of the chain is a personal preference, Debbie begins with a 48"chain separated into 16 2.5-inch pieces for her demonstration.

Materials:

48" chain or length as desired
16 2-inch eye pins
assorted beads
jewelry pliers

Steps:

  1. If you are using a 48-inch chain, separate it into 16 2.5-inch pieces. If it is another length, divide it into 16 equivalent lengths. Using jewelry pliers, pull the chain links apart.
  2. Take 16 eye pins. Place an array of beads onto the 2-inch eye pin, leaving 1/4-inch bare to attach the pin to the chain.
  3. Grab the bare part of the eye pin with jewelry pliers and twist into a loop so that the beads will not fall off.
  4. Make 16 of the bead combinations on the eye pins.
  5. One at a time, open the loop on the end of the eye pin just enough to slip it onto a link of chain. Close the loop.
  6. Repeat the process until you have attached all the links and eye pins.
