Classic Wall Mural

Figure A--The first thing that catches your eye when you enter this Nashville home is a 20 x 20-foot wall mural created by artist Jim Evinczik. It is no ordinary painting, though, because the medium is watercolor. Watercolor stains the wall rather than covers the surface, allowing the wall texture to come through. The base coat is regular latex paint, which provides a gritty texture to which the watercolors can bond. Evinczik took artistic license when painting this meeting between Antony and Cleopatra by brightening their expressions.

Figure B--There is one more feast for the eyes before visitors leave the home--a romantic scene over the front door. The purpose was to give the entry some grandeur and provide guests with a treat as they leave.
