Figure A--Photographer Marla Baxter uses her camera to translate the world she sees, but then she takes her photos and scratches them, scalds them and more--all in the name of art. In this case, she hand-tints a photo by printing it on a special type of paper that will absorb the oils she uses. The pigment is rubbed into the photo itself, then rubbed off.

Figure B--The photo styles can lean from water-colors to Impressionism. In this example, the photo from an instant camera has been discarded, but the negative has been retained. It is then transferred onto watercolor paper that has been soaked in vinegar and highlighted. It can be further water-colored to make colors really pop.

Figure C--Baxter hopes that when people see her work, they will think pleasant thoughts and have familiar fun memories. Those that see her work may never look at a photograph the same way again.
