Figure A--The saying goes that you can't judge a book by its cover, but judging by the craftsmanship of these covers, it is a safe bet that the books inside are just as well-crafted. Dudley crafts each one in a different manner--no two are alike. His motivation is create an object as timeless as possible. It could be very old, but it could be very new if one were to come upon it on a coffee table. The mystery adds to the intriguing, intricate bindings.

Figure B--The result of Dudley's creativity and workmanship are art pieces that shouldn't collect dust on a bookshelf, but at the same time, he doesn't want them to become showpieces, either. As much as he tries to make the books beautiful, he finds it sad that buyers may not use them for practical purposes such as putting down random thoughts and ideas, instead of holding out to put in their "best" writing. He hopes that the books remain a part of their lives and that they are not too intimidated by their beauty to use them.
