Ward melts the color into the beads.
The Carol Duvall Show cameras focus on the Christina Ward and her handmade glass beads. Ward took interest in bead-making after she took one bead-making class. She then bought all the equipment needed and was on her way.

First, Ward heats a glass can until it begins to melt and soften. Once the glass begins to melt, she then melts the glass directly onto a tool called a mandrel (an eight-inch long stainless steel wire) and forms the bead. she then forms the bead. From there, she decorates the bead with different glass textures and colors, also melted onto the original form. She uses other metal tools to create different shapes as well. The bead is then placed into an annealear (a kiln-like structure) for cooling.
