Garry Cohen's whimsical glass rooster teapots are based on the perception that humor exposes itself in all forms of nature. When Garry was a child, tinkering with moving inventions in his garage, he knew that he wanted to be an artist. He loves to create! Rich, vivid colors are Garry's specialty, with attention to form and detail. The color in his art is meant to remind one of a bouquet of flowers. His work stirs the imagination by the exquisite choice of form and of color.

Garry starts making his teapots by placing color on a small bubble over two gathers of clear glass. Once the color is to his satisfaction, it is blown out to take the initial shape of the rooster teapot body. His assistant brings a glass attachment of pure color for the foot. The hot foot is dropped and then picked up on the colored transition knob. Then it is sculpted by hand to alter its shape, creating the three-toed rooster foot. The piece is immediately reheated and taken back to the bench to finish the final stylization of the foot. The piece that includes the body and foot is transferred to a solid rod to finish the sculpture.

The next piece to be added is the lid of the teapot. A large colored "cookie" is pressed onto the broken off opening, reheated, and shaped into a domed lid. Then he creates a spout. A transition knob, flag, and another colored piece is brought, clipped onto the body, and formed into the rooster tail. Once the final proportions are aligned and straightened, the piece is then reheated and broken off the solid rod and placed in an annealing oven to cool down overnight. The amazing rooster teapots will humor and mystify you.
