4. Sew seed beads onto the interfacing shape gluing button embellishments and rhinestone chain to the interfacing as you bead embroidery. Bead embroidery backstitch method:

  • Stitch through the fabric from the back side.
  • String three beads and stretch the bead thread along the line where the beads will go and stitch through the fabric just after the third bead.
  • Stitch up through the fabric between the second and third beads and go through the third bead again.
  • String three more beads and repeat until the entire area is covered (figures C and D).

5. After all bead embroidery is complete trim excess interfacing (figure E).

6. Trace the outline of the completed shape onto leather.

7. Cut leather shape to size.

8. Glue leather shape to the back of the bead embroidered piece.

9. Make individual beaded beads for the necklace strap by bead weaving Austrian crystal beads and seed beads together. Making beaded beads:

  • Thread a needle and string six seed beads and tie them in a circle leaving a 6-inch tail.
  • String a 4mm crystal, four seed beads and another crystal and sew through the next bead in the circle.
  • Repeat to add a section between each seed bead on the circle.
  • Tie the working thread and tail together.
  • Sew through a few beads and trim thread (figure F).
  • Put a needle on the tail and finish it the same way.
  • Make enough beads for the desired length of the necklace strap.

11. Attach the strap to the bead-embroidered piece.
