Keren Peled, of Lincoln, Calif., was creative even from the early age of four years old. The clever youngster found ways to realize her childhood fantasies by creating her own playthings such as crowns knotted together with daisies and stems. Over the years, she has come up with fun ways to use her crochet and macramé skills to create stunning silver and gemstone bracelets and hair clasps.

1. Chain-stitch 28-gauge fine silver wire (on a spool) with a 2mm crochet hook, until the length is about 5 or 6 inches (figure A). Turn.

2. Row 2: Double-crochet in each chain stitch across. Chain 3 (figure B). Turn.

3. Row 3: Double-crochet in each double crochet stitch.

4. Repeat these three rows to create a duplicate piece (figure C).

5. Cut eight pieces of 26-gauge silver wire about 1 foot long. Secure the silver wire into the wood clamp (figure D).

6. Macramé amber beads onto the wires using square knots (figure E).

7. Attach the crocheted bands on either side of the macramé piece with wire (figure F).

8. Wrap the ends of the wires and press together with flat nose pliers. Connect the end bars to hide the end wires (figure G).

9. Attach a clasp (figure H).
