Dichroic Art Glass Epiphany Necklace

Michele worked in real estate for 15 years and finally decided that since there's only 24 hours in a day, she wanted to spend her waking ones making art. She taught herself how to work with kiln-formed compatible glasses and now makes art glass jewelry and tiles. In this project, Michele will be making an epiphany necklace.

Materials:

compatible art glass
compatible dichroic glass
fiber blanket.
pistol grip glass cutter
glass breaker
Morton cutting system

Steps:

1. Cut base glass to: 1" x 6", 1-1/4" x 6", 1-1/2" x 6", 1-3/4" x 6", 2" x 6".

2. Glue fiber blanket strip to 1/8" x 6-1/4".

3. Cut strips of glass in various sizes.

4. Design and place glass on base.

5. Cut clear glass for top to 2-1/2" x 6-1/2".

6. Place in kiln. Fire to full fuse 1480 F.

7. Cut into pendant size 3/8 to 1/2 inch.

8. Grind into shape. This is all done individually by eye.

9. Place in kiln. Fire-polish to 1300 F.

10. Remove from kiln and string.
