Designer's Notes

Throughout history, copper soaking tubs have been the fixture of choice among kings, queens, emperors and aristocrats, who may or may not have known, or possibly even cared, that bacteria cannot live on copper. If aspiring for a reasonably priced French bateau copper tub, consider heading for Atelier du Cuivre in Paris, or to the shop with the same name in the charming twelfth-century village of Villedieu-les-Poeles—literally, God's town of frying pans—in the Normandy region. © Gibbs Smith, Allure of French & Italian Design, Betty Lou Phillips
