Sue Pelley from Decorating Den turns an everyday bedroom into an understated shabby chic haven by combining neutral tone fabrics with dark contrasting colors. Shabby Chic Tips:
- Pelley used four different fabrics in the bedroom, including cotton moire and other soft blends.
- Using bullion fringe, Pelley was able to add rich texture to the bed skirt, night table and window treatments.
- The key to shabby chic is to use neutral tones with some dark colors. Pelley added the print "Sarah" by Nancy Noel. The print's black matting and dark look coordinate with the black lampshade used on the night table lamp.
- The bed frame Pelley chose is made from a combination of woods and metals.
- Shabby chic window treatments sway from traditional full designs. Pelley used a tab-top treatment edged with nine-inch fringe and coordinating tassel tiebacks.
- The cream 100 percent wool shag area rug, a variation of a '70s favorite, adds texture to the wood floor.
