Not only do color trends tend to change every eight to 10 years, but hot color combinations are also cyclical.

  • Greens and purples create warm and dynamic color combinations that go from warm , brown-based greens and luscious eggplant purples to bright lime greens and electric lavenders.
  • Blues and purples offer the warmth of a soft clean blue with light lavender, which results in almost a periwinkle shade. Soft, light and cheery, these colors are sure to brighten any room (figure A).
  • Pretty in pink is back in a big way--from hot pink to dusty rose to salmon, this great shade is having a big resurgence. Look for unusual pink toile wall covering and interesting architectural wall borders (figure B).
  • The combination of yellow and blue keeps getting better and better. Soft butter cream or bright sunny shades of yellow mix with the peace and tranquility of blues for the best of both color worlds.
