Succession of Blooms

Spring bulbs brighten the garden from the depths of winter to the beginning of summer. The first out is always the snowdrop, often pushing its pale little flowers through a layer of snow. At the end of the season, alliums come into their own, heralding the start of summer with their globelike purple flowerheads, floating above early perennials.
