Astilbe

This perennial can grow up to almost four feet tall and flourishes in well-drained soil.

Plant Type: Herbaceous perennial
Hardiness: USDA Zones 3 to 8

Here's an astilbe that has bright, light-green foliage. The flowers of Color Flash Lime are pink.

Astilbe produces upright feathery plumes for a period of a few weeks in mid- to late spring. Depending on the cultivar, plant heights range from about six inches high to almost four feet. Flower colors range from white and light pink to rosy pink, red and lavender. Foliage is clean and divided--almost fernlike--and usually dark green or reddish green.

Give this plant light shade and moist, rich, well-drained soil. Astilbe prefers soil on the acid side. Feed in spring before growth starts.
