Keep the shells your family collects on the beach and turn them into this charming seashell frame. Give your kids the assignment of looking for the shells on the materials list then help them create their own work of summery art.

Materials Needed:

  • 2 bags of white ark shells
  • 4 lettered olive shells
  • 4 small sand dollar shells
  • 1 - 8x10 wide, flat-fronted photo frame
  • hot glue
  • hot glue gun
  • white spray primer
  • off-white spray paint

1. Choose Frame

Select a photo frame with a wide, flat front.

2. Prime Frame

Remove the frame back and glass, then spray the entire frame (front, sides and back) with two coats of white spray primer.

3. Paint Frame

When the primer is completely dry, spray paint the entire frame with two coats of off-white spray paint. Allow to dry thoroughly.

4. Glue Ark Shells

Use a loaded hot glue gun to attach a row of white ark shells on the outside edge of each side of the photo frame. (Note: Do not glue any ark shells on the corners of the frame.)

5. Glue Sand Dollar and Lettered Olive Shells

Use hot glue to attach a small sand dollar onto each corner of the photo frame. Attach a lettered olive shell diagonally on each inside corner of the frame.

Add Your Photo

After the hot glue dries throughly, choose your favorite beach photo to fit in the frame. You now have a perfect reminder of warm summer breezes all year long.
