Make Cookies, Chocolate Squares and Marshmallows

To make chocolate squares, melt chocolate chips in a double boiler, stirring constantly until chocolate is thoroughly melted. Pour melted chocolate onto a wax-paper-lined pan, spread until chocolate is approximately 1/16-inch thick. Allow to cool, then break apart into rough squares. Tip: Wear rubber gloves to eliminate fingerprints.

Make homemade marshmallows following this recipe.

Whip up a batch of icebox cookies with this recipe.

Create Toasting Sticks

Whittle branches to remove bark and create a point at one end. Coat sticks with a food-grade oil or wax to make removing hot s'mores easier.

Add Leather Cording

Drill hole through end of stick and run string or leather cording through to create hanger. Using a permanent marker or wood-burnishing tool, add recipient's initials or a phrase.

Package Homemade Goodies

Place marshmallows, chocolate and cookies into separate clear plastic bags. To prevent sticking, separate each chocolate layer with a piece of parchment paper.

Paint Tin

Scuff up an old tin with sandpaper, then cover with chalkboard paint.

Personalize and Wrap

Personalize tin with creative sayings and s'more recipes using a chalk marker. Bundle up tin and toasting sticks in a bandana.
