Buttoned-Up Photo Frame

Take an ordinary wooden frame from drab to fab with a mosaic button technique.

Materials and Tools:

wooden frame (preferably with a flat surface)
buttons in assorted sizes
E6000 glue
ultrafine grout
sponge
small bucket of water
craft paint
paintbrushes
plastic putty knife

Steps:

1. Add a small amount of glue (not so much that it squeezes through button holes) to the backs of the buttons and attach to frame, working on one row at a time to keep the glue from drying out. Attach the buttons, leaving an equal amount of space between and allow the glue to dry.

2. Mix grout following the manufacturer's instructions. Spread grout over buttons with a putty knife, working grout between the buttons. With a damp sponge, wipe grout off buttons and then set frame aside to allow grout to harden.

3. Once grout has fully set up, paint sides of frame in a coordinating color with craft paint. This technique is a great way to dress up any household surface — table tops, trays or even planters.
