HGTV Green Home 2010 features a laundry room that also doubles as a mudroom, recycling center, craft zone and gardening spot. Typically a room with this many functions would sound busy, chaotic and cluttered, but this eco-friendly hot spot provides plenty of storage space both concealed and stylishly displayed to ensure a crisp, clean look.
Four shelves along the back wall serve as a recycling and organizing center. Eight large baskets, each with wooden hand-stenciled tags, hold winter accessories, tools and items for recycling. Plus, for any crafting or gardening needs, a four-foot work island and farm sink provide plenty of prep space.
One luxury that designer Vern Yip was excited to bring to Urban Oasis 2010 was a washer and dryer. Although the small New York City apartment doesn't provide the space for a full laundry room, Vern was able to create concealed cabinet space right next to the refrigerator for the stacked washer/dryer unit.
At Full Capacity
Located in the snow-covered mountains of Vermont, HGTV Dream Home 2011 was built with overnight guests in mind. Luckily, the laundry room can accommodate large groups with twin washer/dryer units and counter space for folding and pretreating laundry after an active day on the slopes. Cleaning supplies are easily kept out of sight in the deep-blue maple storage cabinets mounted on the wall above the countertop.

Ultimate \"Do\" Room
One of the best ways to save space is to combine and create a multipurpose room. This HGTV Green Home 2011 space includes a separate spot that houses the laundry room, craft room and home office. Concealed by a double-door workstation, the washer/dryer unit stays hidden unless it's mid-cycle, making the room feel less like a workroom and more like a fully functioning space.© 2011, HGTV
Carved out near the entrance of the HGTV Green Home 2011 multipurpose room and to the right of the concealed washer/dryer unit, a small wash area provides the perfect place to fold clothes, pretreat stains and dry delicate pieces on the rack above.
Laundry Room + Pet Center
This spacious room is more than just a laundry room. With locker-style cabinetry and an extensive amount of storage space, this room can be used to stash pet supplies, cleaning accessories, winter gear and even serve as an extension of the pantry.
Out of Sight
Integrated into the maple cabinetry, energy efficient washers and dryers stay completely hidden when not in use. Plus, with two separate units side by side, they become especially useful when guests are over.
Some laundry rooms don't feel like laundry rooms at all. This double-duty space from HGTV Dream Home 2009 actually serves as a home office, too. This small, narrow space certainly makes up for its size with an abundance of smart wall-to-wall storage options and countertops.
Clever Storage Options
To further conserve space, the storage cabinets below the office area convert into a cabinet-mounted ironing center and pullout hampers.
The laundry room from HGTV Green Home 2012, located near the kids' bedroom and craft room, offers a workstation topped with steel-troweled concrete and a stainless-steel sink. This 57-inch-wide by 50-inch-deep closet features plenty of space to sort, treat, fold and hang clothes.
HGTV Green Home 2012 provides a sleek mudroom with locker-style hickory cabinetry with ample storage, both open and concealed, for an industrial look.
Not Just an Entryway
Surprise! Behind the lockers is a stacked energy efficient washer/dryer unit that's conveniently located near both the master bedroom and the kitchen.
Laundry rooms were once recognized by their pure utilitarian purpose, but HGTV Dream Home 2010 proves the laundry room can still remain practical without abandoning all attention to style and detail. Mission-style maple cabinetry with an evergreen java finish is the perfect complement to the silver washer/dryer unit, creating an eye-catching industrial statement.
HGTV Dream Home 2010 even features an additional laundry room located near the guest bedroom with a stacked washer/dryer unit and storage shelves with cleaning essentials.
At HGTV Green Home 2009, the laundry room is more than just a laundry room for the family. It serves as a mudroom and a family-friendly communication center. Located directly next to the most-used entrance, the laundry room provides kids with a space where they can kick off their shoes and backpacks without cluttering the rest of the home.
HGTV Green Home 2008 is located within the walk-through pantry and right next to the home's recycling station. The laundry room offers plenty of space to wash, dry and fold clothes, plus storage for paper goods and any kitchen overflow.
A built-in washer/dryer workstation features deep burgundy units with open countertop space above for handling laundry. Ample cabinet storage above and around helps keep the laundry room/pantry/recycling center clear and clutter free.
Designer Linda Woodrum wanted to conceal the washer/dryer unit in HGTV Dream Home 2008 without building cabinetry, so she added an iron rod, rings and a custom-made curtain to keep the laundry station stylishly out of sight.
