Coastal-Inspired Design

From cozy beach cottages to landlocked homes that can only dream of the sea, here's a peek inside some coastal-style homes that will have you dreaming of creating a "seaside" look of your own.

  • Nothing says nautical like a wall covered in a gorgeous map from floor to ceiling. The model sailboat on the rustic wood table adds a sense of wanderlust. It's hard to choose what to love more: the map wallpaper or the gorgeous barn-style doors.

  • This cozy Hawaiian cottage hits all the coastal high notes: striped rugs, breezy curtains, slouchy slipcovered sofas and a vintage blue trunk with a lovely, well-worn painted finish. An ornate gilded mirror hangs among a collection of botanical prints on the wall. Design and photography by Melissa Newirth

  • This Maui kitchen keeps it light, bright and airy with a high ceiling, open shelves, glass-front cabinets and layers of white. Two sets of pretty paned windows let in the Hawaiian sunshine. The unique metal sconces add to the vintage charm of this beach cottage. Design by Melissa Newirth
