Holiday Homecoming: 4 Easy Decorating Ideas

Host Sandra Lee adds seasonal sparkle with a whimsical red-and-white color scheme and four easy decorating ideas for you to try in your home.

  • Sandra gave this chandelier a festive holiday update by swagging a faux evergreen garland around the fixture and embellishing the plain paper shades with polka-dot, grosgrain and beaded ribbon trim. Simply attach the trim to the lampshades with hot glue for a designer look in a snap. Want to create your own? Get crafting with the step-by-step instructions.
  • Fresh roses inserted in water-filled bubble tubes (available at your local florist) are the show-stopper on this Christmas tree. From the assortment of ornaments to the ribbon garland, Sandra chose a red-and-white theme to create a cohesive look with the holiday decorations in adjoining rooms.
  • A snow-covered faux garland decorated with fresh roses, pinecones and sprigs of red berries adds a holiday touch to this banister. Sandra added foam snowballs to keep with the snowy theme. Be sure to wire embellishments onto the garland, rather than gluing them, to keep them from shifting or falling off.
  • The red-and-white theme is carried to the buffet, where more red roses flank a birch log to create a centerpiece surrounded by candles and tasty holiday treats. Sandra hung strands of beaded garland along the front of the table, which had been covered with red velvet. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
