Before: Dated BasementPatrick and Natalia Rodrigo, along with their two sons, are battling over how to decorate their basement. The boys love baseball and have a large collection of memorabilia that Natalia feels is taking over the room. It's an unbalanced environment focused on the men of the house without a space for mom.
After: Family HangoutAfter removing the paneling, Genevieve paints the wainscoting a glossy black to contrast with the light yellow of the walls. The one large room is divided into two separate spaces: an adult entertaining area and a video game lounge. New sleek furniture, colorful accents and more lighting completely transform the space into a fun and relaxing family hangout.
Before: Ugly BrickThe brick fireplace is a mixture of outdated styles without a cohesive element to pull them together. Genevieve has a plan to update the surround and create a cool focal point for the space.
After: Focal FireplaceTwo sleek chairs flank the newly refaced fireplace. To create an updated focal point, Genevieve builds out the fireplace surround with drywall and paints it white. For fire safety, they must cut it off four inches from the opening, but it also creates a rustic feel from the exposed brick.
Before: Outdated KitchenThe Mancinis' kitchen is falling apart and their living room is outdated. Built in 1984, the space hasn't changed much and is now in desperate need of repair.
After: Italian InspirationGenevieve designs an open floor plan that combines the kitchen, dining room and living room. She introduce a Tuscan-inspired theme, including carrera marble, sage green tiles, stainless steel appliances and beautiful crisp white cabinetry.
Before: Too Much PinkNot only is the pink kitchen uninviting, but it's disastrous with the family tries to cook. The pink Formica countertops can be easily pulled off the cabinets, and the wood surrounding the stove and microwave is a fire hazard.
After: Elegant and CleanNew hardwood floors add a warm element to the space and contrast well with the crisp white cabinetry.
