Functional and Fabulous

When creating a custom headboard, consider adding high-tech features. This streamlined wood headboard, designed by Jamie Herzlinger, features unique details like individual lighting controls. \"This bed is all-inclusive,\" explains Jamie. \"I had to create a headboard where the couple could have their books and could also turn the lights off when one of them fell asleep. I designed the stainless steel inlays on either side of the bed to be touch controls to control their individual lighting. There are also two small drawers on each side for nighttime accessories like glasses.\" Image courtesy of Jamie Herzlinger

Bigger Is Better

Make sure your beautiful headboard is visible behind the pile of decorative pillows by scaling up the height. Large-scale fabrics, like this gorgeous tone-on-tone damask, also add impact. \"I love working with finishes that are elegant and sexy. The features I like to work with are tufting and large upholstered headboards,\" says Jamie Herzlinger. Image courtesy of Room & Board
