A dull, white space with no architectural interest or personality, this master bedroom can hardly be called masterful.
The room now oozes character and grace with its unique vaulted ceiling and warm color palette. Instead of starting straight off the wall, the ceiling’s ascent starts a foot off the wall to give it more architectural interest. A modern-style center beam at the peak also adds interest and houses the electrical lines for the fan.

The homeowners have some beautiful antique furniture, but it looked lost in the stark-white room. They wanted a master suite with a modern aesthetic that works well with their traditional furnishings.
To lend a modern touch to the traditional furnishings, a custom-made headboard and curtains are crafted using a clean, neutral-color fabric. Fluted molding is used for the baseboards, window and door trim and as crown molding on the ceiling line. Fluted molding is normally used for columns or casing on an old-fashioned doorway. Using it to trim out the whole room adds more depth and dimension to the space.
